Globo Exchange

Globo Exchange is a performance and economic intervention. Passersby exchange a U.S. dollar for two newly minted Globos, an international currency. As bills change hands, the nature of money will be interrogated. What is its value, how much is your time worth, and does it depend solely on where you live and what currency you earn? The meaning of the symbolic notes we call money will be considered, on a global scale. The Globo challenges the stark inequalities of a globalized labor force by imagining an international minimum wage. And for a limited time: Buy one, get one FREE!

Time, Duration, & Other Cool Stuff You May Need To Know

The Globo Exchange is transient––at least once a day throughout the festival, the artist will walk from one river to the other wearing a sandwich board, hawking Globos, and handling people’s disbelief with debate.
