Flux Flags

The old pilings between Pier 54 and 57 serve as temporary stage for several dozen flags inspired by those of nautical signal designs. Instead of ships, the flags wave at random passersby, luring them in with bright colors and graphic shapes. The sight offers a visual stimulus that evokes the old maritimes: striped shirts, cravings for freedom, opportunities that lie beyond––the romance of departure and arrival.
