Obverse

Obverse is a modified pedicab available to visitors at the AiOP festival, providing free rides between other festival events, performances, and locations. This project is a collaboration between artist Maskull Lasserre, and New York City bicycle tour company – Central Park Tours Inc. Obverse is designed to offer an immersive experience to participants as they ride through the city in a prison cell mounted on the back of a bicycle rickshaw. Riding in the cell offers both passengers and bystanders a charged and often conflicting experience of confinement and freedom. It tests expectations of comfort, convenience, voyeurism, and celebrity.
