Potlatch Pavilion
Potlatch Pavilion is a series of temporary inflatable structures dedicated to producing non-capitalist spaces and temporary markets of gift-exchange. These inflatable interventions construct and facilitate alternative systems of political economy, which defines “value” with alternative metrics. This iteration is a site-specific, pneumatic membrane structure in a vacant lot in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. During the day a potlatch marketplace will take place, and the local community is encouraged to bring gifts of debatable value. The evenings will host a live feed phenakistoscope by AiOP artist Amanda Long, projected on the inside of the inflatable.
